THE WESTERN PERFORMANCE PONY ASSOCIATION was founded in 2003 with the ambition:-

  • to provide competitive, non-competitive and social activities for"western" pony owners, exhibitors, riders and enthusiasts.
  • to invite others to try "western" as an additional or alternative discipline.
  • to devise programmes to encourage all round improvement and to measure and reward progress and achievement.
  • to stimulate interest and create general awareness of the many benefits derived from equestrian pursuits of all kinds.
  • to identify and encourage the breeding of a type of pony ideally suited to western performance (both competitive and non-competitive).

 WHY PONIES?

Because we believe that there are distinct advantages to pony keeping which makes it possible for individuals to start sooner, keep on longer and have a faithful friend and companion in between.

HOW DO WE DO IT?

  • by communication with and between members and the support of social events.
  • by introducing individual non-competitive progress and achievement awards.
  • by supporting selected classes at various shows
  • by providing Annual High Point awards.
  • by the eventual establishment of W.P.P.A. shows and an annual Championship Show.
  • by working towards the establishment of inter-association team events, in co-operation with other societies.
